Before becoming a local online marketer Larry Brooks worked in the corporate world for 30 years, spending the last 20 years as an executive with a Fortune 15 company, successfully building business for them. The reason he stayed with them so long was for the flexibility, he always had an entrepreneur mindset while he was there. He finally decided to go off on his own and started several online companies and through lots of trial and error found success. He did what seemed like millions of things to get his business out there. He was on his own and found he was doing a lot of work himself. While going through that process he finally realized that he had lots of experience in technology and he knew the web.

While talking to his peers he learned they all had the same issues that he was having as a business owner; they were all running into crooks and thieves in their search for reliable outsourcing and technological services. Nobody did what they said they'd do ? more often than not, they failed to deliver. Larry came across the LBMM program that Kevin Wilke offered and bought it, along with a lot of other shiny objects he came across so that he could learn as much as he could.

Live Event Brings Supreme Clarity

He took the courses, watched the videos and but it wasn't until he took the time to go to one a live training event in Dallas that he finally focused on the opportunity that he had. It was being around other people who were in various stages of the business building process and having the opportunity to talk to others that got him completely motivated and energized. He met some people he could work with and felt he wasn't alone anymore. He knew he wanted to start helping the other business owners in his local area and put all his knowledge and skills to work to build something of his own.

The outsourcing part of the whole system made a lot of sense to Larry. He could turn to proven, reliable professionals to do the fulfillment part. He wouldn't be doing it all himself anymore. He realized he didn't have to know everything, he could turn to others. He sold all his other online businesses and jumped all-in into this one.

Larry realized he could deliver huge value to small and medium sized businesses. What he offered would truly grow their business. Larry loves learning new things and getting involved in new things that offer service to others. He has always loved helping others and serving others. What better way to do it than by helping people grow and meet their personal objectives? Larry always loved getting people to do better than him while working in the corporate world. He knew local online marketing would give him the outlet to help others grow their business.

Suspension of Disbelief

Larry faced lots of obstacles getting things going. Logically, it all made sense to him, but he really just didn't believe it at first. He found that to be his biggest obstacle. He knew he had to suspend his own disbelief. Once you get action rigged and go out and do it, you learn as you do. It was important to Larry to know that he was truly creating value for his clients. It was during the process of doing it that he realized that this really works.

Once his clients started taking him out to dinner and their spouses would tell him how much they appreciate what he's been able to do for them, that they're no longer worried about having to sell their house or how to pay their bills, Larry knew he had something of value. He was getting thank you letters for helping bring customers to their doors. Knowing how much he is appreciated makes it all worthwhile.

Teaching, Not Selling

A lot of people feel like they have to learn everything and become an expert at it before they will go out and talk to people. In the beginning, Larry felt a little bit the same way. But stopped that thinking and just went out. He knew this would work and that he had people to help him out if he got stuck. Outsourcing much of the work helped a lot. He simply focused on the benefits as to what he could offer the businesses.

After that, it got really easy. "You're not selling, you're teaching." He naturally consults people, instead of focusing on closing a deal. He simply explains the benefits with passion and confidence, and they get it.

Larry feels that the best personal quality for online marketer is to be willing to put in the time and not take it personally when people blow you off or don't want your service. There's nothing like getting that first client. You need to have the approach that it's not about the money it's about someone seeing the value that you bring to them. You need to be able to establish the relationship with the customer and then make sure the work gets done. After you land that first customer, it changes everything. It will get easier and will drive you to figure everything else out.

Larry's been doing local online marketing for about a year. He offers local online marketing, social media, video marketing, mobile marketing solutions, text marketing and other valuable tools to help business owners grow business. He also offers marketing consulting by the hour where he serves in an advisory role. He helps businesses decide what their brand actually is.

Helping people get clear on identifying their target customer, who and how to market to their target market. They eventually buy other services from him. The best advice Larry offers to new online marketers is to learn what this really is and why it matters. Then, make your decision that it's what you want to be involved in and commit to it for at least three months. If you're not willing to do that, then your chances for success are reduced.

Get yourself connected with other local online marketers as soon as you can, too. The support, encouragement, and strength from shared resources will help you get going fast.

Final Thoughts

If you're really looking for a business with the potential to make money and truly help others, local online marketing is a great opportunity. If you'll learn and understand the value of this service, then put in the effort needed to succeed, you may just end up with the business you've been looking for your whole life.

Beginner's Biz Boost:
Build Your Belief, Build Your Biz

If you've been at this more than about four minutes, you've probably run into a brick wall. It's the idea of pushing something on someone, pressuring them into doing something against their will, potentially ruining any and all hopes of a cordial, comfortable relationship between them and you forever. Or maybe imagining trying to get your first client just feels like it's the end of all that's good and right.

It's easy to say, "Get over it." But reality is, you may need to reprogram yourself a bit, suspend your own disbelief, and get a clear idea of what you're actually selling.

Spend time talking with business owners and you'll find many of them are "this close" to losing everything. They can't get the new customers they so desperately need, have no idea how to market their business, and are sinking fast. What you're really bringing is NOT SEO. It's hope ? based on proven systems that work. You are uniquely qualified to help them like very few can.
